HVAC Contractor Ventura County | Master Construction

Heating and Air Conditioning Contractor in Ventura County

Comfort should not depend on which room you are standing in. Master Construction is an HVAC contractor serving all of Ventura County, handling AC installation and replacement, furnace replacement, ductless mini splits, and the ductwork behind all of it. Family owned since 1994, our licensed team (Lic. #1027281) sizes equipment to your actual home instead of guessing, so it runs quieter, cheaper, and longer.

Right Sized Beats Oversized Every Time

The most common mistake in an AC replacement is stuffing in a bigger unit than the house needs. Oversized systems short cycle, wear out early, and leave rooms clammy. We calculate the real load based on your square footage, insulation, and windows, then match equipment to the number. It is the unglamorous math that separates comfort from complaints.

Installation details decide how long the equipment lasts. Line sets get brazed with nitrogen flowing so scale never enters the refrigerant circuit. The charge is weighed in and checked against manufacturer subcooling targets, not topped off by feel. Condensate lines get a proper trap and a float switch that shuts things down before water reaches your ceiling. Static pressure gets measured at the end, because a system that cannot breathe will not perform no matter what the sticker says.

What to Expect From Your HVAC Contractor

From evaluation to comfortable:

  • Load calculation. We measure what your home actually needs before recommending anything.
  • Options and pricing. Clear choices at different budgets, explained without jargon.
  • Installation. Equipment, ductwork, and controls installed clean and to code.
  • Commissioning. Airflow balanced, refrigerant charged to spec, and performance verified room by room.
  • Walkthrough. We show you the system, the filters, and the thermostat until you are comfortable running it.

Ductwork, the Half of the System Nobody Sees

A new unit pushing air through crushed, leaky, thirty year old ducts is money out the register. We inspect, seal, repair, and replace ductwork as part of every changeout conversation, and as remodel contractors we route new ducts cleanly through attics and additions where standalone HVAC companies often will not go.

Coastal air is hard on condensers. Within a mile or two of the water in Ventura and Oxnard, salt eats coil fins and cabinet fasteners, so we spec coated coils and place units where rain can rinse them instead of tucked under an eave collecting spray. Permits matter too. Ventura County changeouts require Title 24 paperwork and third party HERS duct testing, and we pull the permit and schedule the test rather than leaving it for you to discover at resale.

In the city of Ventura, our HVAC in Ventura page covers heat pumps, ductless options for older homes and coastal equipment placement.

Questions

HVAC - FAQ

My system is old but still running. Repair or replace?

It depends on the failure, not the age alone. If the compressor or heat exchanger has gone, replacement is almost always the better money. If it is a capacitor, contactor, or a refrigerant leak in an otherwise sound system, repair buys real years. We tell you which one you are looking at.

Do you handle the ductwork, not just the equipment?

Yes. A correctly sized unit on leaking or undersized ducts still delivers a house that will not cool evenly. We test and repair or replace duct runs as part of the job rather than bolting new equipment onto an old problem.

Can you add heating and cooling to an addition or ADU?

Yes. We evaluate whether the existing system has capacity to carry the added load or whether a separate mini split makes more sense. Because we also do the electrical work, the panel capacity question gets answered in the same visit.

Why is one room always hotter than the rest of the house?

Usually airflow, not equipment. Undersized returns, a crushed or disconnected duct, a closed damper, or insufficient insulation on a west facing wall are the common causes. Diagnosing which one it is costs far less than replacing a system that was never the problem.

How much does a new HVAC system cost?

Tonnage, efficiency rating, and how much of the ductwork needs work are the big three. Access matters too, since a furnace in a tight attic takes longer than one in a garage, and electrical upgrades for a heat pump add scope. We put all of it in a fixed written quote before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number you pay.

How long does a full system replacement take?

A straight changeout with sound ducts and equipment in the same locations usually runs one to two days. Add duct replacement and figure most of a week. A heat pump conversion with panel work runs longer because of the electrical scope and inspection scheduling. You get the schedule up front, and you are never left without heat or cooling overnight without knowing it first.

Do I need a permit to replace my AC or furnace in Ventura County?

Yes. Every changeout requires a mechanical permit, and California adds Title 24 requirements and third party HERS testing on most jobs. Unpermitted swaps surface at resale and can void manufacturer warranties. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and the testing, and hand you the signed off paperwork when it is done.

Are you licensed to do HVAC work?

Yes. All work runs under California contractor license #1027281 with full liability and workers compensation coverage.
