Your Stucco Contractor in Ventura
Repair, Match & Re-Coat · Licensed & Insured · Lic. #1027281 · Since 1994
Stucco is Ventura's default skin, and the coast tests it constantly. Marine moisture wets it most mornings, salt rides the air, sun bakes the south walls, and the building underneath moves a little with every temperature swing. Master Construction repairs and re-coats stucco across Ventura, licensed (Lic. #1027281) and family owned since 1994, with texture matching good enough that you will have to hunt for the patch.
What the Coast Does to Stucco
Hairline cracking is normal aging. Cracks with real width, stair-step patterns, staining below windows, or a wall that sounds hollow when tapped are the ones that matter, and they deserve a contractor's eye before a patch hides the evidence.
Water is the real enemy, and it enters at details, not open wall: window perimeters, roof lines, planters poured against the house, sprinklers hitting the same spot for a decade, and soil graded up over the weep screed at the bottom of the wall, which is the most common self-inflicted stucco wound in older yards.
Once water gets behind stucco it stays, because the marine climate never grants a drying day. The paper and lath rust and rot quietly, and the first visible symptom is often a bulge or a stain years into the problem. Catching it at the crack is cheap. Catching it at the bulge is carpentry.
Repairs, Re-Coats and Matches That Disappear
Crack repair uses materials that move: elastomeric fillers on hairlines, cut-and-fill with mesh on real cracks, and an honest diagnosis when the crack pattern says foundation rather than finish. Patches after window replacement or plumbing and electrical penetrations get wire, paper and three coats, not a smear of surface mud.
Texture matching is the craft. A dash coat, a sand float, a smooth trowel finish and a heavy Spanish lace each need different hands, and the revival homes downtown deserve better than a patch that advertises itself. Texture comes first, then color: integral-color re-coats where the wall calls for them, or masonry-rated paint where painting is the right answer.
A full re-coat renews a tired wall in one pass. Repairs first, then a bonded finish coat across the whole elevation, which resets color and texture together and beats endless spot-patching on a wall that already carries decades of them.
Why Ventura Homeowners Choose Us
Stucco hides structure, and we are home builders, so we recognize what a crack is trying to say. Movement at a header, settlement at a corner, moisture at a buried weep screed. The repair addresses the cause, and when the cause is framing or drainage, our own crews fix that too, under one contract.
Multi-building stucco is standing work for HOA boards: crack programs across elevations, color-matched patches that do not announce themselves, and re-coat cycles planned with the architectural committee. Certificates of insurance and per-building pricing hold across the property, with one contact throughout.
Patches and repairs need no permit. Re-stucco over new lath, structural repairs behind the wall, and exterior changes within the downtown historic core's sightlines can pull review, and we sort that out before work starts rather than after.

FAQ
Ventura Stucco - FAQ
Are the cracks in my stucco serious?
Hairlines, usually not; that is the finish aging. Cracks with width, stair-steps that follow a pattern, or diagonals running off window corners can be the building moving, and those get a contractor's eye before a patch hides the evidence. We tell you which you have at the walkthrough.
Why is there staining under my windows?
Water is entering at the window perimeter and finding its way out through the stucco below. The stain is the exit, not the entry. The fix seals the actual entry point and repairs what got wet behind the wall, not paint over the stain.
Can you match my texture and color?
Texture, yes, and it is the heart of the trade. Color comes close enough to stop the eye on integral-color walls and exact where the wall gets painted after. On weathered elevations we feather patches wide or recommend coating the full wall so nothing reads as a repair.
Should stucco be painted or re-coated?
Both are legitimate. A re-coat renews the material itself with integral color and outlasts paint. Masonry-rated paint costs less per pass and changes color freely. The wrong answer is sealing a damp wall under either one, so we check moisture before recommending.
What is a weep screed and why does it matter?
The metal edge at the bottom of the wall that lets moisture drain out of the stucco. Bury it under soil or a new patio and the wall drinks instead of drains, which rots framing from the sill up. Keeping grade below it is the cheapest stucco maintenance there is.
Do you fix what is behind the stucco too?
Yes, and that is the reason to call a general contractor. Rusted lath, rotted paper and framing, failed flashing: our crews open the wall, repair the structure, and close it with matching stucco under one contract, instead of patching over a problem.
Do you work with property managers and HOAs?
Regularly. Crack and patch programs across buildings, re-coat cycles planned with the board, color submittals for the architectural committee, certificates of insurance, per-building pricing.
